Southern Comfort

It's just a matter of days until one of our Blood is the New Black artists steps foot in LA for a week-long vacation. Well maybe I'm using the term vacation a bit too loosly....
We got tons planned, and Patrick Jilbert, our boy from Louisville Kentucky is coming along for the ride.

Louisville is for Haters, not Lovers.
Patrick flys in Wednesday in preparation for our mini-road trip to San Diego on Thursday for Agenda. If you're going to be in SD for the show or just hanging out you must make it to our favorite breakfast spot. Thee Kings Inn Waffle Spot.

If you're feeling creative, pick up a kids menu and cusomize your own Sir Wafflelot. I'd scan in mine, but I've been told its too offensive for human eyes. Let's just say my Luftwaffle was planning an evil Blintzkreig.

Thick girls ARE dope
Blood is the New Black AND Patrick will be boothing it at Agenda on Friday and Saturday at the San Diego Concourse, so come by, maybe Patrick will sketch you up some of his magic.

After we do our thang in San Diego we hightail it back to home sweet home, Los Angeles for our first group show. Since starting Blood is the New Black over 2 years ago, I've been toying with the idea of a group show featuring our artists. Well thanks to Vivian Gueler, URB Magazine, and Quixote Studios it's happening Sunday September 10th. If you are in Los Angeles, it would mean so much to me if you came by. Patrick will be there for you to harrass as well as our youngest Blood is the New Black artist, Milano Chow. We're also going to have limited edition numbered shirts available for sale designed by each of our 4 artists exhibiting as well as amazing art from 4 bright up and comers.

If all that isn't going to keep us busy enough, we're taking a day to recoup before we head back out. This time into the desert. For those of you who haven't been to the Shady Dell, you need to atleast once in your life.

The best way to describe this joint is as a trailer park in an old mining down, you got a cemetary right next to you, a jail down the street, and are nestled in a copper mountains in beautiful hues of orange and oxidized green. There's not much to do down there but that's just what's so rad about it. And when I say trailer park, don't think some Jerry Springer episode, I'm talking 50's Airstream trailers that have been restored to their full glory, shiny chrome, lacquered wood, black and white televisions, old frigidaires, and record players that only play 78 and 45 RPM. It's the type of place where you want to bring your lawn chairs, sit back, enjoy an ice cold drink, and BBQ to your hearts content.

2 days of R&R before its back to hustling, but it's what we do best, so whatcha gonna do? Patrick leaves us on the 16th...but I have a feeling he'll be back again real soon.

Vegas, Done.

Phew, made it back from Vegas tradeshows in one piece, yet again. But before we can get a chance to breathe, we're gonna have to pack up and head back to San Diego for the Agenda Tradeshow on Thursday. Pool was a blast, tiring but fun. We met tons of great new folks, ran into old friends, and landed accounts in all types of great stores worldwide. So if you can't find Blood is the New Black by you yet, you ought to by this Christmas-time.

Mitra holding down Blood is the New Black booth.

Our cutout artwork was a hit! We collected tons of hilarious polaroids that will be posted sooner rather than later....

BitNB Sales Director Yvonne Lee sneakes a smoke.
And some other ones of our booth...

Apparently not all stores were fans of our postcard art by Patrick Jilbert. Sorry for offending some bible-belt sensibilities, but we're just trying to get ya to crack a smile. Oh well...good riddance.

And for those of you coming to San Diego for ASR or Agenda come by and visit us....

Oh yeah, and Vegas ain't Vegas without bringing home a souvenir, is it?
